Roof Slope Explanation

All factory delivered homes are required to stay within certain height limits while being transported along the highways. This is due to overhead power lines, bridges, viaducts, etc. A home with a 4’ roof rise and 8’ sidewalls will just meet the maximum height limit (when including the undercarriage and wheels). In order to offer higher pitched roofs, it is
necessary to hinge the roof at the normal height limit, and then raise the folded-down part of the roof at the site using a crane. Design Homes offers 3 optional higher roof “slopes.” These higher roof slopes (steeper pitches) will make the home meet local pitch requirements and enhance the look of the home.

It is important to know that customers who elect to build their own attached garages should wait until the home is set on the foundation before ordering garage rafters to match the home. An angle reading should be taken from the actual house roof in order to guarantee an accurate match of roof pitches (If a pitch match is needed).

Note: Although the roof slopes & pitches above are accurate, the truss-rafter drawings are approximates of the original approval drawings and are not to scale. The sole purpose of the drawing above is to make the explanation of our optional roof slopes easier and faster.
